The Genomics Teaching Place

University of Colorado at Boulder

The Genomics Teaching Place serves research, teaching, and office needs for the BioSciences Initiative an outreach program at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Graphics generated in the study of the human genome were abstracted to become the floor patterns. The tile pattern in the entry hall represents an RNA strand. The science of the users generated the graphics and defined the color palette of the project.

This project is located in the Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology Building on the University campus. The program serves several distinct populations: an outreach program dedicated to increasing interest in the sciences, a continuing education program for public school teachers, and university classroom. The design intent of this project was to provide a colorful and interesting space to support the programs provided by the BioSciences Initiative.
